What is a Doula?
The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek meaning "a woman who serves" and is used in our society to refer to a trained and experienced professional who does not preform clinical tasks, but provides information, advocacy, and emotional and physical comfort during labor and delivery.
Studies have shown that when doulas attend birth, labors are shorter with fewer complications and cesarean sections, babies are healthier and they breastfeed more easily, with the overall results of a more positive birth experience.
